Darah McCray Okeke, Esq.

Darah McCray Okeke, Esq. is the proud daughter of two attorneys–her mother, a judge, and her late father, a tax attorney. As products of the American Civil Rights movement who achieved great success despite the odds stacked against them, they both instilled in her at an early age the critical importance of freedom, equity and true justice for all.

After graduating from high school with honors, Darah attended Emory University where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School. In pursuit of her passions for writing, advocacy, public service, and social justice, after college Darah attended the University of Maryland School of Law where she was a recipient of the prestigious Leadership Scholarship, a member of the Black Law Students Association, and on the Maryland Law Review.

Darah graduated from law school, cum laude, and went on to spend nearly seven years as an Associate in the Labor & Employment practice group of Miles & Stockbridge. Darah then went in-house as Vice President, Associate General Counsel for Erickson Living Management, where she advised Human Resources and senior leaders in the areas of risk management, contracts, regulatory issues, and employment law, with a special emphasis on equal employment opportunity for underrepresented populations.

Darah continued her career journey in the Bay Area, joining Uber Technologies as Senior Employment Counsel. In this new, exciting leadership role, Darah provided expert advice to the Diversity & Inclusion, Human Resources, and Product and Engineering teams in all aspects of employment law. During her time at Uber, Darah also served as interim Head of Employee Relations–the internal investigative team responsible for resolving employee concerns of discrimination, harassment, and other workplace policy violations.

Darah went on to become Associate Director and Senior Global Employment Counsel for Twitter where she advised and partnered with the HR, Engineering, and Inclusion & Diversity teams to ensure compliance with workplace laws and create and oversaw implementation of progressive initiatives that drove fairness and belonging.

With her collective expertise and work experience, Darah has embarked upon her latest career adventure as the President of EPIQ Consulting Inc., a minority and woman-owned company that provides advisory services to individuals in the area of employment negotiation strategy, in addition to forward-thinking businesses in the areas of workplace culture, diversity, equity and inclusion.

When she’s not working, Darah enjoys volunteering, reading, singing, and mentoring, as well as laughing with (and sometimes at) her loving husband, Obasi, and watching martial arts films with her wonderful 8-year-old son–Okezie.
