Our Philosophy

Balentine is an employee-owned wealth management firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with an additional office in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Founded in 2009 with a legacy that goes back 31 years to a previous formation of the company, Balentine holds a core concept of service and giving back to the community across a broad spectrum of giving with a special focus on offering employees time off to volunteer with non-profit charities.

“Southern Highlands Reserves hosts tours for garden and nature enthusiasts as well as school children with idea of helping others connect to nature with the high elevation gardens, dubbed the Yosemite of the east. Robert Balentine has said too many Americans have “nature deficit disorder,” and Southern Highlands is the company’s donation to help nurture the soul with some solace in the great outdoors.”

Team members across Balentine have recently raised money for Covenant House in Atlanta, volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club, participated in LEAD Atlanta, planted urban gardens with the Southeastern Horticulture Society, helped the United Methodist Children’s Home with a clothing drive and worked with Junior Achievement’s Biztown.

Much of Balentine’s community impact has focused on improving the lives of impoverished children or those from low-income homes. Chairman Robert Balentine likes to say that the culture of giving back to the community starts at the top. Employees get monthly briefings on potential volunteer projects so they know where to direct their time and talent.

But perhaps Balentine’s most noted contribution to the community has been the creation of the non-profit Southern Highlands Reserves, a 122-acre native plant arboretum and research center that is aimed at protecting the most endangered eco systems of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Dean of the College of Environment & Design at the University of Georgia says the gardens and its research is some of the most important research in the world. It is located in western North Carolina near where Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina meet at Toxaway Mountain.
